Six services, one trade

What we repair

Each service in detail: what we do, and what it means for your screen.

New mesh unrolled over a patio door frameRepair

Screen rescreening

Torn, punctured or sagging mesh, replaced in your existing frame.

Standard fibreglass, aluminum, pet-resistant or no-see-um mesh depending on what you need. We keep the frame whenever it is still straight, which is most of the time.

Two worn rollers and two new ones on the trackRepair

Rollers and hardware

A screen that sticks, jumps the track or no longer closes.

We replace rollers, handles, latches and pull tabs. We lubricate the track and clean the frame channel while we are there.

Corner bracket and roller on a patio door frameRepair

Frame repair

Bent frame, separated corner, split moulding.

Straightening, corner and moulding replacement. When a frame is beyond saving, we build a new one to the same dimensions.

Custom patio door frame, assembled on the trestlesRepair

Custom-made screens

A missing screen, or an opening with no original to copy.

Built to the exact dimensions of your opening, fixed or sliding. We measure on site so there are no surprises.

Repair or full replacement of the sliding screen door. Reinforced mesh available for doors in daily use.

Gazebo panels with new MICA vinylGazebo · MICA

Gazebo screens and vinyl

Screen panels and clear MICA vinyl, replaced on site.

We replace gazebo screen panel mesh and the clear MICA vinyl of soft doors and windows — one of our specialties. UV-resistant materials, cut to each panel’s exact dimensions. The gazebo structure itself is not touched.

Ten kinds of damage, one answer

The damage we repair

If your screen looks like any of these, it can be repaired. Tap one: we tell you what it is and what we do. We rarely replace a whole frame — in most cases only the mesh needs redoing.

Window screen mesh torn across several squares with frayed edgesMesh

Tear

The mesh has given way across several squares.

What it is

The mesh has given way across several squares. The tear grows every time the screen is opened.

What we do

Full rescreening in your existing frame. Mesh cannot be stitched back — it gets replaced.

Hole or puncture

A clean puncture point — usually a claw, a branch or a tool.

What it is

A clean puncture point — usually a claw, a branch or a tool.

What we do

Rescreening. A patch lasts a few weeks and shows; new mesh does neither.

Straight diagonal cut across a window screen meshMesh

Cut

A straight slash, made in one go.

What it is

A straight slash, made in one go. The threads are severed, not stretched.

What we do

Rescreening. The frame and hardware are almost always kept.

Window screen mesh pulled loose from its frame and bucklingMesh

Mesh pulled loose

The mesh is intact but out of its groove: it buckles and leaves a gap.

What it is

The mesh is intact but out of its groove: it buckles and leaves a gap.

What we do

We re-tension the mesh and fit a new spline. If the mesh is creased, we replace it.

Faulty spline

The cord holding the mesh in its groove has hardened and lifts out, often at a corner.

What it is

The cord holding the mesh in its groove has hardened and lifts out, often at a corner.

What we do

New spline of the right diameter. It is a wear part: replaced, never glued back.

Row of small holes through a window screen meshMesh

Multiple holes

Several punctures in the same mesh.

What it is

Several punctures in the same mesh. Patching each would cost more than redoing it.

What we do

Full rescreening. A good moment to move to pet-resistant mesh if the cat is the cause.

Sagging mesh

The mesh is slack and bulges.

What it is

The mesh is slack and bulges. It no longer stops anything that pushes on it.

Wear and fading

UV has weakened the fibre.

What it is

UV has weakened the fibre. It is still whole but tears under a finger.

What we do

Rescreening. The frame itself has no age as long as it is straight.

Mesh and materials: what we fit

Not all mesh is equal, and the right one depends on your window, your pets and your surroundings. We carry all four types in the vehicle — the choice happens at your home, not in a store.

The standard

Standard fibreglass

The reference mesh for windows and patio doors: flexible, affordable, nearly invisible once stretched. It is what we fit in the vast majority of replacements.

Rigid

Aluminum

Stiffer and more impact-resistant than fibreglass. Recommended between double-hung windows and in older frames, common in older plexes.

7× stronger

Pet-resistant mesh

Seven times stronger than standard mesh. The right call when a dog, cat or raccoon has already gone through the screen — instead of replacing it every summer.

Tight weave

No-see-um mesh

A tighter weave that stops no-see-ums and black flies, not just mosquitoes. Recommended near water and by wooded lots.

How much does a screen repair cost?

Replacing the mesh of a window screen, in its existing frame, starts from $30. The exact amount depends on size, mesh type and how many units you have, and the quote sets it. The more screens in the same visit, the lower the price of each. A $125 travel fee applies to every visit, whatever the number of screens — it is shared across all your items, which is why grouping them pays.

Do I need to be home during the work?

Yes, for window screens that come out from the inside. When everything is reachable from outside we can sometimes work without you — we confirm this when we quote.

Can a torn screen — mesh or wire — be repaired?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases. What gives out is the mesh, and it is replaced in your existing frame, at your home, in one visit. The frame itself is only changed if it is bent or cracked.

How do I choose the mesh type?

The choice is made at your home, in front of the window: standard fibreglass suits most windows and doors; aluminum when you want a frame that stays taut; pet-resistant mesh if a dog or cat leans on the screen; tight-weave no-see-um mesh near water or woods. We carry all four in the vehicle.
