Gazebo and sun shelter specialty
Clear vinyl yellowed or torn? Replaced at your home in Saint-Mathieu, in the original frames — gazebos and sun shelters.
Three questions are enough to start. The official measurement is taken on site.
Whatever your retailer calls it — MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic, sun-shelter transparent fabric — it is the same material, and we replace it in Saint-Mathieu in your existing panels.
Sun yellows and clouds the vinyl. Film that crackles to the touch is at end of life.
Below freezing, MICA turns brittle — one handling or one gust splits it outright.
Slack vinyl flaps like a sail and eventually tears at the seams.
A municipality of a few streets, houses set on large wooded lots, farmland on every side: in Saint-Mathieu, a gazebo never has to fight for space. It goes wherever the owner decides to put it — at the end of the back deck, halfway toward the tree line, sometimes well away from the house, on the side where the canopy gives afternoon shade. The housing stock is bungalows and single-storey homes whose back yards have no width constraint at all. The retailer gazebo, with its aluminum or steel frame and standard-size panels, is by far the most common model here, simply because it goes up in a weekend on a slab or on a deck that already exists.
The second family shows up whenever the structure was built on site: wooden posts, a roofed top, and one-off panels that no store carries. On a wooded lot, that kind of structure often sits right at the edge of the trees, and the spot cuts both ways. Shade keeps the screens cool, but it also holds moisture, and everything the trees drop lands on the panels. A gazebo placed on the field side, by contrast, takes sun from morning to night and wind that crosses open land with nothing to slow it down. Two gazebos on the same street can therefore age at completely different speeds, and the clear vinyl shows it first.
The clear vinyl (MICA film) is almost always the first part to go, and under a canopy it ages in its own particular way. Sap, pollen and leaf residue stick to it; you scrub to get the clarity back, and vinyl already stiffened by a few winters scratches, then splits along a fold. The rest of the time, a gust off the fields finishes a pane that had already yellowed. The screen itself tears at a corner, sags in the middle, or lets its spline work its way out of the frame channel. Either way the work happens in the original frame: the film is replaced pane by pane, to dimensions measured on site, and the screen panel is rescreened. The gazebo structure, posts and roof, is never touched.
The job itself is straightforward here: everything is at ground level, there are no stairs or balconies to negotiate, and the mobile workshop can park close to the yard. Distance becomes the only real constraint. A gazebo built at the far end of a large lot means every panel travels on foot, over grass that can be soft in spring or after rain. So panels come off one at a time rather than stripping the structure all at once: less handling, and the gazebo stays standing and stable throughout. On a custom wooden structure, each panel is measured individually, because no two are twins.
The woods and the farmland pull in opposite directions. Under the canopy the air stays damp and the smallest insects hold on until dark: that is the argument for a tight-weave mesh on the shaded panels. The fields send wind and full sun, which yellow the vinyl and tire out fibreglass mesh; aluminum mesh holds its tension better season after season. The film goes on before the first cold snaps and makes the gazebo usable late in the year — provided it is cut to the exact size of the pane rather than simply stretched over it.

This job was not in Saint-Mathieu — it shows our method, the same everywhere: panels down, new vinyl pane by pane, panels back up.

Straight answers
Not really, it mostly changes the method. Panels come off one at a time and are carried on foot to the mobile workshop, parked as close as possible without driving on the grass. If the ground is soaked, we adjust the route rather than cut ruts into the lawn. The structure stays up from start to finish.
Yes. Scratched or clouded film is replaced pane by pane, in the original frame, without touching the screen panels or the structure. It is often the only part needing work on a gazebo sitting under trees, since the same canopy has sheltered the screening from direct sun.
That is normal for a permanent structure, and measurement is the answer. Every opening is recorded individually on site, film and mesh are cut from those measurements, then fitted back into the existing frame. Nothing is built from a catalogue size, and the structural wood is neither drilled nor altered.
Yes, at your home. We travel to Saint-Mathieu, remove the panels, replace the MICA vinyl in the original frames and put everything back — the gazebo structure is never touched. It is one of our specialties.
Yes. Depending on the retailer it is called MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic or transparent fabric — the same flexible material that cuts wind and holds warmth. We replace it on gazebos and sun shelters alike.
Yes. The vinyl is replaced pane by pane, in the existing frame — no need to redo the whole panel for one tear. If several panes have yellowed, doing them together gives a uniform result.
On assessment: the price depends on the number of panels and their dimensions. The quote is free, and a photo is often enough to price without a visit. Fabrication and installation guaranteed one year.
