Gazebo and sun shelter specialty
Clear vinyl yellowed or torn? Replaced at your home in Mont-Saint-Grégoire, in the original frames — gazebos and sun shelters.
Three questions are enough to start. The official measurement is taken on site.
Whatever your retailer calls it — MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic, sun-shelter transparent fabric — it is the same material, and we replace it in Mont-Saint-Grégoire in your existing panels.
Sun yellows and clouds the vinyl. Film that crackles to the touch is at end of life.
Below freezing, MICA turns brittle — one handling or one gust splits it outright.
Slack vinyl flaps like a sail and eventually tears at the seams.
A gazebo in Mont-Saint-Grégoire is located first by its road: on a rang or in the village, it is not the same object and not the same job. Out on the rangs the properties are farms and old houses, each standing alone at the roadside and often carrying more than one building; in the village, a few streets of bungalows sit close together around the core. On a rang property the summer shelter may be a wooden structure built on site. Where it is, its panels are unique, its openings were cut by hand, and no dimension carries from one frame to the next. Clear vinyl (MICA film) gets cut pane by pane there, to measurements taken in front of each opening.
In the village everything moves faster: the gazebos are retailer models, and one panel measured gives the size of every other. Regular back yards, a retailer gazebo in aluminum or steel, repeated panel formats where the first one measured gives the size of the rest. The contrast is mostly about exposure. At the foot of the mountain, a sloped or slightly elevated lot does not catch the same wind as a village yard sheltered by neighbouring houses, and clear film does not age at the same rate in the two. One municipality, two ways into a gazebo: piece-by-piece survey on one side, a series of identical panels on the other.
Clear film is what goes first, on both families of structure. It yellows under UV, it stiffens, it crumples along the bottom, and then a late-winter gust opens a split along the pinched edge. It gets replaced pane by pane in the original frame, to exact sizes, without ever touching the posts or the roof. Screen panels age differently: in a setting of orchards and sugar bushes they work hard all summer and eventually tear at a corner, sag in the middle, or lose their spline. Each panel comes down, gets redone at the mobile shop and goes back on its clips, in the frame that was already its own.
On a wooden structure built on site, the difficulty is not the work itself but putting things back. Two neighbouring openings can differ by a few millimetres, and a panel refitted in the wrong place no longer closes: they get identified and numbered before they come down. Each frame is measured as it stands today, diagonals included, because an outdoor frame exposed for decades at the foot of the mountain does not stay square. On the village's retailer gazebos it is the reverse: repeated formats, identical clips, and a disassembly that goes in series once the first panel is out.
A gazebo standing between an orchard and a sugar bush takes fine insects as soon as the light drops: that is the only reason to run a tighter weave here, and only on the sides facing the trees. Wind depends on position: an elevated or open property sets clear vinyl fluttering and tires its fasteners, while a sheltered village yard lets it age mostly in the sun. On large exposed panes, aluminum holds its tension longer than fibreglass does.

This job was not in Mont-Saint-Grégoire — it shows our method, the same everywhere: panels down, new vinyl pane by pane, panels back up.

Straight answers
One at a time. Each frame is measured separately — widths top and bottom, heights on both sides — and the panels are marked before they come down so every one returns to its exact place. On a hand-built structure, that marking is what prevents a panel that no longer closes once refitted, even when the difference is only a few millimetres.
Depending on the structure, the two either share one frame or live in two separate sets of panels. The original frame decides: some take film in place of mesh, others accept a second panel in front. We look at the frame before choosing, because an improvised arrangement ends up pinching the vinyl badly, and badly pinched vinyl opens at the edge.
A great deal. Clear vinyl blocks the wind, so it works: flutter tires the pinched edge long before the surface itself has aged. In that position, a very tight installation and continuous pinching all the way around the frame are what most delays a split at the edge. How long a pane actually lasts depends on its exposure: that gets assessed at the survey, not promised in advance.
Yes, at your home. We travel to Mont-Saint-Grégoire, remove the panels, replace the MICA vinyl in the original frames and put everything back — the gazebo structure is never touched. It is one of our specialties.
Yes. Depending on the retailer it is called MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic or transparent fabric — the same flexible material that cuts wind and holds warmth. We replace it on gazebos and sun shelters alike.
Yes. The vinyl is replaced pane by pane, in the existing frame — no need to redo the whole panel for one tear. If several panes have yellowed, doing them together gives a uniform result.
On assessment: the price depends on the number of panels and their dimensions. The quote is free, and a photo is often enough to price without a visit. Fabrication and installation guaranteed one year.
