Gazebo and sun shelter specialty
Clear vinyl yellowed or torn? Replaced at your home in Henryville, in the original frames — gazebos and sun shelters.
Three questions are enough to start. The official measurement is taken on site.
Whatever your retailer calls it — MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic, sun-shelter transparent fabric — it is the same material, and we replace it in Henryville in your existing panels.
Sun yellows and clouds the vinyl. Film that crackles to the touch is at end of life.
Below freezing, MICA turns brittle — one handling or one gust splits it outright.
Slack vinyl flaps like a sail and eventually tears at the seams.
Henryville spreads its houses across three quite distinct situations, and a garden shelter does not live the same life in each. Along the rivière du Sud, lots face the water: that is where a permanent wood structure finds its natural use, built to measure with wide panels cut for it alone. Out on the Haut-Richelieu concession roads, scattered farms have all the room they want and nothing to break the wind off the fields. In the village's newer residential streets, yards are smaller and more regular: that is retailer gazebo country, with an aluminum or steel frame and panels in standard sizes.
The old core, with its wood houses and front galleries, is a case of its own. The gallery already serves as the outdoor room, and when a screened shelter is added it sits at the back, on a village lot of modest size. Those shelters are rarely original: they are additions, put up in one era or another with the hardware of their time. Two neighbouring shelters may share neither the way panes are fastened, nor the depth of the frames, nor the method holding the film in place. A measure-up on site settles the question in minutes; guesswork never does.
Near water and open fields, clear vinyl (MICA film) faces two enemies at once: wind, which sets it flapping and works its fastenings, and unobstructed sun, which yellows and stiffens it. Failure comes early, often all at once, starting from a grommet. We replace the affected pane to exact dimensions, in the original frame, without touching the structure. Screen panels raise a different issue here: standard mesh lets through the no-see-ums and black flies that the river and its wooded banks keep in supply. Rescreening those panels in a tight weave changes how the shelter can be used in the evening, and it is a choice made panel by panel.
On a lot sloping toward the water, or on farm ground, a shelter rarely stays perfectly plumb forever. A wood structure that has shifted a few millimetres pinches its panels on one side and lets them float on the other; that shows up when the panels come off, not afterward. Every panel is therefore measured individually, marked, rebuilt, then returned to its own opening. On a retailer gazebo the operation is simpler: panels unclip or unscrew and are worked flat, with nothing done to the framing. The principle does not change: no dimension is assumed before it has been taken.
Insects rule here, and they rule early. On a garden shelter the mesh covers all four sides at once, over far more surface than a house's windows: whatever crosses an ordinary weave gets in everywhere at the same time, and one panel left in standard mesh undoes the rest. A shelter you intend to sit in through the evening calls for a tight weave, not ordinary screening. Wind off the fields decides the rest: film has to be fitted with no slack, or it snaps all autumn and gives way at the first hard blow. And on open ground, direct sun shortens its life faster than cold does. Fitting happens before the first frosts.

This job was not in Henryville — it shows our method, the same everywhere: panels down, new vinyl pane by pane, panels back up.

Straight answers
A tight weave, not standard mesh. No-see-ums and black flies are small enough to pass through an ordinary mesh opening without difficulty, even on new, properly tensioned screening. The remedy is not to tighten it: it is to change the weave on the panels that concern you, usually the ones facing the water.
Yes, and without touching the structure. A wind tear almost always starts at a fastening point and runs the full height: the pane is not patched, it is replaced. We take its dimensions on site and fit new film into the existing frame. The neighbouring panes get examined at the same time, since they aged alongside it.
Indirectly, yes. A structure whose footing has shifted no longer presents square openings: a panel binds on one side, leaves a gap on the other, and both mesh and film wear first at the loaded corner. That is why each panel is measured as it actually is today, rather than at the dimension it was supposed to have.
Yes, at your home. We travel to Henryville, remove the panels, replace the MICA vinyl in the original frames and put everything back — the gazebo structure is never touched. It is one of our specialties.
Yes. Depending on the retailer it is called MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic or transparent fabric — the same flexible material that cuts wind and holds warmth. We replace it on gazebos and sun shelters alike.
Yes. The vinyl is replaced pane by pane, in the existing frame — no need to redo the whole panel for one tear. If several panes have yellowed, doing them together gives a uniform result.
On assessment: the price depends on the number of panels and their dimensions. The quote is free, and a photo is often enough to price without a visit. Fabrication and installation guaranteed one year.
