Gazebo and sun shelter specialty
Clear vinyl yellowed or torn? Replaced at your home in Côte-Saint-Luc, in the original frames — gazebos and sun shelters.
Three questions are enough to start. The official measurement is taken on site.
Whatever your retailer calls it — MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic, sun-shelter transparent fabric — it is the same material, and we replace it in Côte-Saint-Luc in your existing panels.
Sun yellows and clouds the vinyl. Film that crackles to the touch is at end of life.
Below freezing, MICA turns brittle — one handling or one gust splits it outright.
Slack vinyl flaps like a sail and eventually tears at the seams.
In Côte-Saint-Luc, the gazebo is not in the towers. It is on the post-war bungalow and duplex streets surrounding the 1960-1975 apartment buildings, on lots where the backyard is deep enough for a mid-sized retail gazebo. These yards have matured: tall hedges, trees shading part of the gazebo, shared fences on either side. When the aluminum or steel structure is the original one, it is the panels — clear vinyl (MICA film) first, screening second — that are due for a refresh, not the structure itself. Replacing the panels pane by pane keeps a structure that is still sound in service.
The duplex changes the equation. Its yard is shared or split in two, and the gazebo that fits is a small retail model in the most common sizes, sometimes set on a raised deck behind the upper unit. Its panels come and go by the stairs. In the apartment buildings, the gazebo is the exception: a common terrace may carry one, and it then falls to the building manager or the syndicate, not to a tenant. Three situations, one city, and the service is given in English as readily as in French, from the first call to the explanation on site.
On these retail gazebos, the film goes first: it yellows on the sunny side, stiffens in frost and splits at the corner of a pane when the wind sets it flapping. We replace it pane by pane, cut to exact size, in the original frame — one panel at a time, without taking down the rest. The screening comes next: slackened by the years, torn at the corner of a low panel, or spline popping out because it has hardened. It is rescreened in its frame with new spline. On a panel a cat leans against — and the low panel of a duplex gazebo sits at cat height — pet-resistant mesh replaces the fibreglass.
On a bungalow, the panels come off the structure, get redone in the mobile workshop and go back up, all from the yard, reached along the side of the house. On a duplex, the route runs up the outside staircase or through the unit, and a gazebo panel fits through a stairwell as long as it is carried flat and protected; that is the main constraint here, ahead of the repair itself. On an apartment building terrace, we settle in advance who authorizes the work and which way the panels travel — the service elevator, if there is one, rather than the lobby.
The mature yards of Côte-Saint-Luc half-shelter the gazebo: hedge and trees cut the wind, which spares the film, but the shade keeps dampness under the roof and mosquitoes linger into the evening. Standard fibreglass is enough for most panels. The side that catches direct sun between two trees is where the film yellows first and the fibreglass goes brittle; it is the side redone most often. On a duplex or apartment terrace, higher and less sheltered, the wind takes over again and aluminum mesh earns its place on the exposed side.

This job was not in Côte-Saint-Luc — it shows our method, the same everywhere: panels down, new vinyl pane by pane, panels back up.

Straight answers
Yes, flat and protected. A retail gazebo panel is light and rigid; it can be handled through a stairwell or an outside staircase without being bent. It is then redone in the mobile workshop and goes back up the same way. What is needed is agreed access with the occupant of the unit we pass through, if it is not yours.
The building manager or the syndicate, not a single occupant. A common terrace belongs to the co-ownership or the landlord, and that is who authorizes access and decides what gets redone. Once that is settled, the work is the same as anywhere: panels taken down, film or mesh redone in the original frame, structure untouched.
Change the mesh on that panel only. Pet-resistant mesh stands up far better to claws and to the weight of a cat rearing against it; it goes into the original frame, like the standard fibreglass kept on the upper panels. It lets through slightly less light, which is barely noticeable on a low panel.
Yes, at your home. We travel to Côte-Saint-Luc, remove the panels, replace the MICA vinyl in the original frames and put everything back — the gazebo structure is never touched. It is one of our specialties.
Yes. Depending on the retailer it is called MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic or transparent fabric — the same flexible material that cuts wind and holds warmth. We replace it on gazebos and sun shelters alike.
Yes. The vinyl is replaced pane by pane, in the existing frame — no need to redo the whole panel for one tear. If several panes have yellowed, doing them together gives a uniform result.
On assessment: the price depends on the number of panels and their dimensions. The quote is free, and a photo is often enough to price without a visit. Fabrication and installation guaranteed one year.
