Gazebo and sun shelter specialty
Clear vinyl yellowed or torn? Replaced at your home in Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, in the original frames — gazebos and sun shelters.
Three questions are enough to start. The official measurement is taken on site.
Whatever your retailer calls it — MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic, sun-shelter transparent fabric — it is the same material, and we replace it in Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois in your existing panels.
Sun yellows and clouds the vinyl. Film that crackles to the touch is at end of life.
Below freezing, MICA turns brittle — one handling or one gust splits it outright.
Slack vinyl flaps like a sail and eventually tears at the seams.
In Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, between the canal and the open plain, lots have plenty of room and almost nothing to break the wind. A municipality built of rang houses and farm buildings, with a few bungalows scattered along the roads, means yards that open straight onto the fields, with no mature hedge and no close neighbour to slow anything down. That is the starting point for every gazebo question here: whatever the structure, it takes the wind head-on, season after season, and its panels are working all the time. On this kind of land, a garden shelter is maintained around the wind first — everything else comes after.
The age of the housing stock explains the rest. Where new construction is rare, the gazebo is almost never original: it is an addition, and it takes one of two forms. On rang houses and farms, a permanent wood structure is often built on site, with one-of-a-kind panes that match no catalogue size — each opening has its own. On the bungalows set along the roads, it is more often a retail gazebo: an aluminum or steel frame with standard-format panels, set on a slab or a wood deck. Both are repairable, but not in the same way, and that gets decided by looking at the structure rather than describing it over the phone.
On land this exposed, the clear vinyl (MICA film) is almost always the first thing to go. It goes on in place of the screen or over top of it, to cut the wind and keep the shelter usable as the season turns. It yellows in the sun, stiffens in the cold, and one gusty morning it splits outright, usually from a corner or from an old fastener hole. We replace it to exact measurements, pane by pane, in the original frame. The screen panels fail differently: the mesh slackens and ripples, a corner tears, or the spline lifts out of its groove and frees a whole side. Those get rescreened in their own frame. Either way the gazebo structure itself is never touched — the panels come off, get rebuilt, and go back on.
Out on a rang, the real calculation is the trip. Addresses sit far apart, and a mobile business has every reason to come up only once. In practice that means saying in advance which family of shelter it is — a retail gazebo with standard panels, or a wood structure built to measure — and counting the panes, separating mesh from vinyl. On a wood structure, not every panel lifts out: some are screwed or set in place, and the work is then done right beside the shelter. On a retail gazebo, the panels come out in a few minutes.
Three forces are at work here, and they pull in different directions. Wind off the plain and the canal makes the vinyl drum and stretches the mesh out of tension: on a large panel, aluminum mesh holds tension better than fibreglass. Sun, with no tree to filter it, yellows the film and weakens fibreglass faster than in a wooded setting. Insects, finally, are not handled here the way they are on a window: a gazebo pane is several times the surface, so the tight weave that stops no-see-ums is paid for in airflow lost right around the shelter.

This job was not in Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois — it shows our method, the same everywhere: panels down, new vinyl pane by pane, panels back up.

Straight answers
Yes. A one-off pane has no catalogue size, so nothing can simply be bought off a shelf — but that is exactly where measuring pane by pane and rebuilding the mesh or the film inside the existing frame pays off. The structure is never touched. The only thing to check at the outset is whether the panes lift out or whether the work has to be done in place.
Yellowed vinyl is already stiff vinyl, and stiff vinyl no longer flexes: it breaks on the first real gust, usually at a corner or along an old line of fasteners. On land as exposed as this, waiting rarely pays. Replacing it before it splits also saves having to go back over the frame around it.
That is the sensible way to do it on a rang. The gazebo panels, both screens and film, get counted and measured along with everything else and go through the same mobile shop. What genuinely helps is saying in advance how many panes there are and which ones are mesh and which are vinyl: the two materials are not carried in the same quantities.
Yes, at your home. We travel to Saint-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, remove the panels, replace the MICA vinyl in the original frames and put everything back — the gazebo structure is never touched. It is one of our specialties.
Yes. Depending on the retailer it is called MICA film, clear vinyl, clear plastic or transparent fabric — the same flexible material that cuts wind and holds warmth. We replace it on gazebos and sun shelters alike.
Yes. The vinyl is replaced pane by pane, in the existing frame — no need to redo the whole panel for one tear. If several panes have yellowed, doing them together gives a uniform result.
On assessment: the price depends on the number of panels and their dimensions. The quote is free, and a photo is often enough to price without a visit. Fabrication and installation guaranteed one year.
